Described by the judges as “superlative, exquisitely flavourful and
sophisticated”, this latest achievement follows success in results from
renowned international competitions such as the San Francisco World Spirits
Competition, the International Wine and Spirit Competition, Ministry of Rum,
The Rum Masters, and the International Spirits Challenge.
Jérôme Cottin-Bizonne, Managing Director of Havana Club International
S.A., said: “To be recognized once again as the best tasting rum at this year’s
competition is testament to the outstanding quality of Havana Club Selección de
Maestros. This latest success further demonstrates that this expression
continues to be the driving force within the global ultra-premium rum
category”.
Havana Club Selección de Maestros is a 45% ABV dark rum made from the
finest hand-picked quality rums. Aged in barrels selected for the powerful,
aromatic potential of their wood, Selección de Maestros is exemplifier of the
heritage of Havana Club.
Maestro Ronero Don José Navarro* said: “Havana Club Selección de
Maestros is the ultimate expression of our commitment to the Cuban rum-making
tradition. The Maestros Roneros and I worked together to channel our combined
knowledge and passion to create an exceptional tasting rum. This high acclaim
from spirits experts, connoisseurs and rum enthusiasts around the world is
deeply rewarding.”
The Beverage Testing Institute’s International Review of Spirits is the
oldest and most influential annual spirits competition in the United States.
Throughout the year, experts at the Beverage Testing Institute (BTI) invite
select members of the trade to join them as panellists in blind tastings. Each
product receives a score based on a 100-point scale and a tasting note, which
then informs the platinum, gold, silver, and bronze medallists that are
declared for each category.
